Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi to appear in Star Wars: Episode VIII?

Here’s a juicy Star Wars rumor of the day: it is being suggested that Ewan McGregor is currently in talks to reprise the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Episode VIII.

Of course, this prompts so many questions. For one, how does Kenobi, a character that died in Episode IV appear in an episode set 30-plus years after his demise? Perhaps as a Jedi apparition? Could be. In fact, McGregor lent his voice to Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Rey is first seeing the images associated with Anakin and Luke Skywalker’s blue lightsaber.

So how did this report come about? It was first suggested by Kristian Harloff of Schmoes Know and Collider, who  tweeted, “Grain of salt: hearing that Ewan Mcgregor in talks to play Obi Force ghost in Episode 8.”

Clearly, this rumor has some more wood to burn before we can truly begin wondering if McGregor’s Obi-Wan is making his return in a galaxy far, far away…
