It’s been months since the casting blitz for Fox’s reboot of the Fantastic Four set the internet on fire. Director Josh Trank took to Twitter over the weekend to update fans on where the project stood, and most excitingly, to post a photo of what the Thing (played by Jaime Bell) will look like in the new take on the Fantastic Four.
The use of modeling is a clear departure from the last iteration of Fantastic Four films, which heavily relied upon CGI and slick orange plastic blocks.
Trank didn’t stop his Twitter divulges at the photo of the Thing, but also took the opportunity to touch on casting and what to expect in terms of the Fantastic Four’s uniforms. On the much talked about casting of Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, Trank stated simply, “I didn’t choose to make Johnny black. I chose to make Michael Johnny.” Fans immediately asked Trank, given the change in racial origin, how the relationship between Johnny and Sue would be affected–to which the director replied, “Minor change. They’re still siblings.”
One of the bigger eyebrow raising tidbits to come out of Trank’s Twitter Q&A was details on what to expect from the group’s uniforms, stating, “They’re not tight. I’ll tell you that.”
In the last bit of Fantastic Four news, Trank noted that principle filming on the project had wrapped. Stay tuned in the coming months for more details on this reboot.
