Superman takes a…vacation?!?

What do Kryptonians do when they’re burnt out on work and need a change of scenery? Turns out it’s the same thing we all do—go on vacation.

(***Spoilers to follow***)

In Superman #27, writer Peter Tomasi and artist Patrick Gleason take us inside the Kent family in a much different way than before. Instead of battling villains like Manchester Black or Mr. Mxyzptlk, the Kents are battling fatigue.

At the outset of the issue we find Superman flying above the clouds, struggling to get home before he passes out mid-flight. However, his own fatigue from battling Manchester Black and his new Elite got the better of him, and he crashes back at the farm. In the morning, Lois surprises the whole family with an RV.

The rest of the issue is as much an ode to American history and patriotism as anything else. It’s worth the time to read to get a great look at Superman the father. Also, and as a major bonus, the best moment of the issue comes as Superman and Jon boogie board down Niagara Falls!

Don’t miss any issue of Superman during Rebirth. It’s been DC’s finest title and isn’t slowing down.
